We're trying new things, you should join us!

A new year full of new things

CHHCF has decided to try out every activity, trail, hike, walk, workout, spin class, yoga class etc that Chilliwack has to offer!

We will be doing these activities every Friday morning and would love for you to come and join us! 

January 11th: Cycle Fit Plus- YMCA @ 6:30-7:30am

January 18th: Total Fitness- YMCA @ 9:15-10:15am

January 25th: The 248 stairs up Promontory Road @ 9:30am

February 1st:  Vinyassa Flow Yoga- Off the Mat Yoga @ 9:15-10:15am

February 8th: Bikram Yoga- Garrison Studio @ 9:15-10:45am

February 15th: Full Body Fitness- Cheam Leisure Centre@ 9:15-10:15am

A Recipe Worth Trying

 

 

Not only do we want to provide you with health facts and ways to keep fit but we've decided why not give you some delicious recipes! Here is the first of many!

Penne with Mushrooms and Artichokes

 

 

 

 

 

Ingredients

 

6 oz whole wheat penne

1 tbsp olive oil

8 oz fresh D-fortified mushrooms, sliced

1 onion chopped

3 cloves, garlic

16 cherry tomatoes, halved

1 cup artichoke hearts, drained and chopped

1/4 cup reduced-fat pesto

4 tsp grated Romano cheese

Directions

Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the penne and cook according to the package directions. Drain.

Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the mushrooms and onion and cook, stirring occasionally, for 7 to 8 minutes, or until the mushrooms have released their liquid and start to brown slightly. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute longer. Stir in the tomatoes and artichoke hearts and cook for another 1 to 3 minutes, or until tomatoes just begin to soften.

Add the pasta and toss to combine. Remove from the heat and stir in the pesto.

Divide among 4 bowls and top each serving with 1 teaspoon of cheese.

Chilliwack Connect

Chilliwack Connect takes place Saturday, October 13, from 8:30AM-4PM at First Avenue Pentecostal Church. This year we're expecting to serve over 400 people! Throughout the day, those in need are able to access government services, advocacy, medical care, financial services, and many other support systems. They are also able to enjoy amazing catered meals, entertainment, makeovers, family photo sessions, child care and much more!
